Ahmankol is an oxbow lake cut off from the Syr Darya channel in Sirdaryo district. Tamarisk and poplar tugai grow around it and local anglers sit there in the morning; the river bank is a kilometre's walk away. Water rises in spring and the tracks turn to mud.
