Ayaz Kala is an ancient Khorezmian stronghold in Ellikqal'a district, on a hill at the edge of the Kyzylkum. A sandy, stony path climbs to the highest of the three forts, and the top shows the desert, Ayazkol lake and the other fortresses. There is no shade up there, so climb early or late in summer.
