Beltaw is an isolated rocky hill 20 km northeast of Nukus, rising 40–50 m above the plain. People from Nukus come out here late in the day: the top shows the city, the Amu Darya and the edge of the Sultan Uvays range. The climb takes half an hour, but there is no shade and no water.
